Analytics Studio — A Guide from Scratch
Ready-made reports answer fixed questions. The Analytics Studio lets you ask your own: "How were net sales last year by city and quarter?", "Which machine stops most?", "Where are we against this month's collection target?" You drag and drop fields and the table and chart appear at once; you save the view you like as a card on a dashboard and share the dashboard with your team. You write no SQL: the formula of every measure is defined in one place on the server and matches the company reports.

1. Where the window is and who sees it
- In the dock's Management group, next to the Owner Dashboard: Analytics Studio. It has three tabs: Designer, Dashboards, Targets.
- Viewing requires system administrator or the General Reports permission. Human resources data also requires the Personnel permission; without it the HR cube does not appear in the list at all.
- Chart types require the Graphical Reports permission; without it the same data is shown as a table.
2. Cubes: which data I can query
A cube keeps the measures and dimensions of one business area together. A measure is the number being totalled (net sales, scrap quantity); a dimension is what it is broken down by (customer, month, machine). Every cube has ready day, week, month, quarter and year time dimensions.
- Sales — net sales, returns, VAT, withholding, document/customer counts, gross profit; customer, product, group, field rep, city, region. The measure is identical to the Sales analysis report.
- Purchasing, Expense (purchases of expense/service/labour cards), Stock movements (receipts/issues, movement type, warehouse).
- Stock status and value — period-end quantity and value; the same calculation as the Stock valuation report. This cube is a "snapshot": it looks at the period's end date.
- Working capital — trade receivables, trade payables and stock value at period end, with DSO, DIO, DPO and the cash conversion cycle; the same calculation as the Working capital indicators report (last 3 months window). This cube is also a "snapshot"; you can enter targets for indicators such as DSO in Targets.
- Production (confirmations, cost, scrap, working and downtime), Collections and payments (cash and bank receipts), Cheques and notes (portfolio by due date), Human resources (timesheets, leave, hires and exits).
3. Designer: drag, drop, see
- Choose the data source (cube) on the left.
- Drag the Σ-marked measures to the Values box and dimensions to the Rows or Columns box. On a phone just tap a field: a measure goes to Values, a dimension to Rows; ⇄ in the box moves it between rows and columns.
- Up to three dimensions and one time dimension can be chosen. When the selection changes the result is recalculated automatically; if the same query is asked again within a minute the result comes from cache, and the cache drops by itself if records have changed.
- In the Filters box limit a dimension to given values ("these" or "all except these"). For dimensions where a card can have several values, such as groups, the filter does not duplicate rows.
- Click a row or a cell: the list of documents that make up that cell opens; clicking the document number opens the invoice, clicking the account opens the account card.
4. Visual types, percentage and conditional colour
- KPI card (one big number), table, column, stacked column, line, area, pie, horizontal bar and heat map. If the Columns box holds a dimension, each of its values becomes a separate series (the largest eight + "Other").
- Percentage: "Share of total %" adds each row's share of the total, "Cumulative" adds a running total. It is not applied to ratio and count measures (return rate, number of documents).
- Conditional colour: up to six rules such as "red if net sales < 100,000". Colours carry only three meanings: green good, yellow attention, red action needed.
5. Period and comparison
Period presets: this month, last month, this quarter, this year, last year, last 30 days, last 12 months or a custom range. With Compare the previous equal period or the same period last year appears in an extra column; months are matched by position (January ↔ last year's January). The change arrow is coloured by the measure's good direction: a sales increase is green, a returns increase is red.
6. Dashboards: save, arrange, share
- Under the designer, type a Card title, choose a dashboard (or give a new dashboard name) and choose Add to dashboard. The ✎ button of a card on the dashboard opens it in the designer; Update card writes it back.
- A dashboard has one period: when you change it, all cards are recalculated for the same range. "Save period to dashboard" makes it the dashboard's default.
- With Edit move and widen cards with the arrows, then Save layout. A dashboard is a 12-column grid; on a phone the cards are listed top to bottom in one column.
- Sharing: a personal dashboard is visible only to its owner. The system administrator can open a dashboard to everyone or by permission (to users holding any of the chosen permissions); only the administrator changes a shared dashboard.
- TV mode puts the dashboard in full screen, enlarges the text and refreshes every 10 minutes; press Esc to leave. A dashboard can also have its own automatic refresh interval.
7. Six ready-made dashboards
Sales, Purchasing, Stock, Production, Finance and collections, Human resources. A ready-made dashboard opens without being saved and cannot be changed; Copy to my dashboards makes your own copy, which you can edit freely. The figures are cross-checked with the company reports: sales = Sales analysis, stock value = Stock valuation, collections = cash and bank receipts.
8. KPI targets and alerts
- In the Targets tab the system administrator gives a measure a monthly, quarterly or yearly target (e.g. monthly net sales 15,000,000). A target is measured from the start of the period to today: for additive measures such as amounts, half the target is expected in the middle of the month; for ratios such as the return rate, the target itself is expected.
- Colour thresholds: for a "higher is better" measure 100% and above is green, 80–100% yellow, below red; for a "lower is better" measure 100% and below is green, 100–120% yellow, above red. The thresholds can be changed per target.
- If the daily task is enabled (server setting
ANALITIK_GOREV=1; off by default), a target that turns red sends an HNROS message to the "Users to be alerted", not twice on the same day. The task also stores the cards' daily values (for trends).
9. Export
Every result and every dashboard card has a CSV button; the dashboard's XLSX button downloads all cards into one Excel file as separate sheets. Numbers are written as raw values and can be calculated in Excel.
10. Frequently asked questions
- Why is the total of the group rows larger than the company total? A product can belong to several groups; each group row shows that group's full amount. The total row is company-wide and is not duplicated.
- Why does gross profit look much smaller than net sales? Profit is calculated only from products with a known unit cost; the "Net sales with known cost" measure shows this base. The number of products without cost is stated in the warning.
- How do sales with a price of 0 affect profit? They do not. The cost of free-of-charge issues (sales lines with a price of 0) is shown separately in the "Cost of free-of-charge issues" measure and their quantity in "Free-of-charge issue quantity (base unit)"; gross profit stays equal to the Profitability ranking report.
- Can I add up quantities? Quantities are in each product's base unit; adding different products may mix kilograms with pieces. Use quantity measures together with the product dimension.
- A card says "No data yet". There are no records in the selected period, or the related module (e.g. production, HR) is not used in this company; zero is not printed.
